Haywood County Pride is a coalition of LGBTQIA+ individuals, allies, and supportive organizations working towards an inclusive and safe community for the people of Haywood County, NC.
legal status
HayCo Pride is incorporated as a nonprofit entity by the NC Secretary of State as of May 2024.
This means…
- we are independent of outside influences or ownership
- we have principles, standards, and guidelines (currently under construction) that shape the organization’s decision making and operations, that will be thoroughly documented and made publicly available
- we have a Board of Directors that steers the work and oversees the organizational “assets,” with accountability to each other, the public, and the government
- we have our own Federal Tax ID number and bank account that is collectively operated by our Board of Directors
- all organizational assets belong strictly to HayCo Pride and, while they are collectively overseen by the Board of Directors but do not belong to the Board of Directors or any individual on the board
donations & taxes
HayCo Pride has been formally approved by the IRS for tax exempt 501c3 status for our nonprofit.
This means that contributions to HayCo Pride are eligible for tax deductions!
We will continue to operate with full transparency about the expenses incurred by our organization and the contributions that make our work possible. We try to simultaneously minimize the cost of our operations and the gap of unmet needs in our community, while prioritizing the sustainability of our work and the impact that it has today, tomorrow, and for generations yet to come throughout Haywood County and Appalachia. The labor provided by our team in organizing events, projects, and programs, is 100% volunteer, a labor of Queer love.
